I offer violins, violas and cellos for sale, with instruments suitable for musicians from beginners to advanced players. My collection for sale includes both new instruments and older French and German instruments.
Violins: from €499 up to around €3,500
Cellos: from €1,700 up to around €5,000
You will find some lovely violins at my shop in the €1,200 – €3,500 price range. If you’re just starting out, or if your budget is tight, I offer a full-size (4/4) violin complete with bow, case and shoulder rest for €499.
If you’re looking for something specific, or to discuss options that are not currently included in my collection, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Bows for violin, viola and cello
I also sell bows for violins, violas and cellos. The prices for bows start at around €90 (carbon) and €300 (brazilwood) for student instruments, up to around €1,400 for Pernambuco bows.
My own instruments
I love restoring old instruments, but of course I am trained as a violin maker:
I also make my own instruments.
One of the best things about my work is that I can take the knowledge I have gained and use it to craft new violins, violas and cellos.
My instruments are available for sale from €6,000. If you would like to find out more, or to try out an instrument, please get in touch.
The internet is full of adverts offering ‘violin sets’ (instrument, bow and case) for a price that seems too good to be true – and it is! Rather than being a good deal, these instruments are just cheap, almost disposable. Quite apart from the very low quality of the sound (tinny and unpleasant), they are usually also hard to play because they haven’t been set up properly.
Without a well set-up bridge and properly fitting pegs,
your instrument will be more difficult for anyone to play,
whether you're a beginner or a professional.
And then you have to pay me or another professional violin maker to make the instrument playable, and that can easily cost more than you paid when you bought it.
If you're looking for an instrument for your child, or if you want to start playing yourself, I strongly advise you to start by renting an instrument. Starting out on a good, well set-up instrument will help you really learn to play. And once you know how that feels, you’ll be in a better position to make a choice if you decide to buy your own violin, viola or cello one day.
